As a President of The Scunthorpe Round Table I am pleased to
announce that again we have provided emergency funds to the Scunthorpe
Anti-Poverty Group to pay the rent for their storage unit

We have also arranged to pay the next 6 months rent for the lock
up storage area that costs £2784 per year

Scunthorpe Anti-Poverty Group gives furniture, bedding, kitchen
packs and curtain packs to those who have just got a house or flat, which
enables them to get on the employment list and give children a stable home.

Also it helps to prevent landfill. A small nominal charge for
furniture and delivery applies. The furniture is theirs to keep.

We helped the Anti-Poverty Group last year by paying the full
years rent and with a substantial additional donation.

It’s a shame that again without our financial help the
Scunthorpe Anti-Poverty Group may have had to close down

Scunthorpe Round Table is no committed to try and help the Scunthorpe
Anti-Poverty Group obtain additional support from other organisations,
businesses and local people.

We have offered substantial help over the years including buying
them a Box Van to enable them to collect and deliver furniture and other items.

Any sponsors can arrange to have their name or Business name or
logo displayed on the Anti-Poverty Group Box Van

Scunthorpe Anti-Poverty Group Manager/fundraiser:
Maurice Barrett, stated that none of the staff gets paid, all money raised goes
back in the charity.

Members of Scunthorpe Round Table have compiled a list of   40 things to do before they hit 40.

The challenges range from scuba diving and sky diving   to brewing your own beer   and becoming a blood   donor.

  1. Chilly challenge: Bob Riach, chairman of the Scunthorpe branch of the Round Table, eats some super spicy chillies

Bob Riach, 56, president of Scunthorpe Round Table, has already completed 18 items on the list.

He said: "Being part of Round Table is all about meeting   new friends, and doing activities that you've never done before.

"A few of our members have done some of the items on the list, and as a group we have  test driven super cars and gone clay pigeon shooting.

"The social aspect is so popular amongst our members, and I can see them taking on these tasks with a real hunger to complete the list.

"So far I have done 18 of the things, like growing a moustache, eating a vindaloo and becoming a blood donor.

"If our members come to us with ideas they want to do from the list, we will do everything we can to get them organised quickly.

"One particular thing that I would like us to do is participate in an event to challenge a Guinness World Records Book title.

"I'm not sure what we could do, but it would definitely be a massive achievement.

"Many young people in Round Table will have done barely anything on this list, and having the opportunity to do these things will help mature them and give them some great life experiences.

"This list is a great advert for people wanting to join Round Table, especially since  the Scunthorpe group is  actively taking on new members.

"I'm sure we will have a lot of fun taking on the list."

posted on Twitter by Jacks Mum:

At 11am this morning (Thursday 13th October) the world changed forever. Covered in his beloved Man Utd blanket and snuggled in Tracey’s arms, Jack decided that in true Manchester United fashion “He’d do what he wants” for the final time and passed away peacefully with us, his family, at his side. He is now laid on his bed at our side, dressed in his Man Utd kit, with Snowman and Meerkat laying wit...h him. We are all devastated, but take comfort in the fact that Jack lived life to the full right up to the very end. We are so very proud of Jack and the way he dealt with his disease, with a smile and a glint in his eye. Thank you, everyone of #jacksarmy for all your help and support so far. #RIPJackamoWELOVEYOUxx
